The VR Kit Won’t Start Up — How Do I Get It Started?

If the VR Kit does not power on or appear to start up, follow the steps below in order. Most issues are related to power or startup timing and are easy to resolve.

This is the most effective and safest fix for startup issues.

  1. Locate the power cable connected to the VR Kit (the cable supplying power to the kit).

  2. Unplug the power cable completely from the VR Kit.

  3. Wait 2 full minutes

    • This allows the internal system to fully power down and reset.

  4. Plug the power cable back into the VR Kit.

  5. Once reconnected, wait up to 5 minutes for the system to boot up.

⚠️ The VR Kit may take several minutes to start — this is normal. Do not unplug or press anything during this time.

Step 2: Check if the System Has Started After 5 Minutes

After waiting 5 minutes:

  • Look for signs that the system has powered on, such as:

    • The laptop inside the kit running

    • The screen/monitor turning on

    • System activity sounds or indicator lights

If the VR Kit starts → ✅ You’re good to go.

If nothing happens, continue to Step 3.

Step 3: Check Internal Connections (Last Resort)

Sometimes internal cables can loosen slightly during transport, which can prevent the system or monitor from turning on.

⚠️ Only perform this step if the VR Kit still does not start after Step 1 and Step 2.

  1. Open the VR Kit case.

  2. Carefully lift the foam insert to access the laptop and cables inside.

  3. Check the following connections:

    • Power cable going into the laptop

      • Unplug it and firmly plug it back in

    • USB-C cable connected to the screen/monitor

      • Unplug it and reconnect it securely

  4. Make sure all cables are fully seated and not loose.

  5. Close the case and wait up to 5 minutes again for the system to boot.

ℹ️ In some cases, the laptop is on but the monitor does not turn on. Reconnecting the USB-C cable usually resolves this.

Quick Summary

  • Best fix: Unplug the VR Kit power cable → wait 2 minutes → plug it back in → wait 5 minutes

  • ⏱️ Startup can take several minutes — be patient

  • 🔌 If nothing happens, reseat the laptop power cable and USB-C screen cable

  • 🖥️ A black screen does not always mean the laptop is off
